The goal of Douglas Island Pink and Chum, Inc. is to sustain and enhance valuable salmon resources of the State of Alaska for the economic, social, and cultural benefit of all citizens, and to promote public understanding of Alaska's salmon resources and salmon fisheries through research, education, and tourism.
Although the corporation’s name is Douglas Island Pink & Chum, DIPAC no longer has an active hatchery on Douglas Island, nor do we release pink salmon. See our facilities page for historical and current hatchery site information, and our current release sites by species.
At the Ladd Macaulay Visitor Center, we invite you to come learn about the fascinating life cycle of salmon, their near shore marine environment, and the inner workings of a hatchery through our variety of exhibits and commentaries. We offer a fun, educational, and affordable experience for the entire family.
During the summer tourism season, we have regular set visiting hours, but in the fall through spring months, visiting is by appointment. See our visitors page for more information.
